Estate Planning & Administration

No one wants to think about what happens to their family after they die. Unfortunately, putting off your estate plan can jeopardize the future of your loved ones and leave them with a tremendous burden. By working with an experienced estate planning attorney, you can ensure that they will inherit the assets that you worked so hard to build.

We have deep roots in our community and have been helping families plan for their future for more than four decades. Whether you need to create essential estate planning documents, are looking to update existing legal documents, or require someone to administer an estate, we can help.

A Comprehensive Estate Planning Law Firm

Sound estate planning involves much more than filling out a form or preparing estate planning documents from templates. To develop the best possible estate plan, we listen carefully to our clients to understand their intentions and what they hope to achieve before recommending the tools and strategies ideal for their needs. Our estate planning practice includes:

Our goal is to address every possible contingency so that you can have peace of mind that your family’s future is protected.

Tax Planning For Inheritance Tax

As of 2021 Federal Estate Taxation is a point of significant discussion amongst Federal Government Representatives and Congress.  At the present time, the “Unified Credit” namely the dollar figure above which federal taxes are imposed is $11.7 million dollars for each individual and $23.4 million dollars for married couples.  Unless action is taken that figure will be reduced to $5.49 million dollars per person or roughly $11 million dollars per couple in 2025.  The big question is whether that figure will be reduced or increased by that time frame.

For many clients, limiting tax obligations at the time of death is an important aspect of estate planning.  Depending on the size of the estate and the specific estate plan you use, your estate tax amount will vary.  Our attorneys are experienced in strategic planning to reduce or eliminate death taxes on your estate.

Protecting Your Assets and Minimizing Your Exposure

Wills and trusts are important elements of your estate plan, but the reality is that they are just vehicles allowing you to transfer your assets to your beneficiaries at a given time. In order to be truly effective, your estate plan needs to incorporate tax planning, asset protection, and other elements in order to maximize the wealth you pass on to your beneficiaries.

Medical Care and Disability

Your estate plan should also address end-of-life issues such as who will be authorized to make decisions on your behalf. These are important issues that require careful consideration. Our attorneys can help you create a plan that will protect your assets in the event you become incapacitated.

Estate Administration You Can Trust

We also work with people who need help administering a loved one’s estate. It’s not unusual for the person named as the trustee or administrator to feel completely overwhelmed – they often have no background in estate administration. Whether you’re dealing with the probate process or administering a trust, the process can be complicated and involves burdensome responsibilities.

We regularly help families administer estates. We understand that it can sometimes involve difficult family dynamics, but we also understand our legal duty to the beneficiaries of the estate. Our goal is to administer the estate in a cost-effective and transparent manner so that all parties are treated fairly.
